Kim Heo-Jung even adds a small character, Park Tae-Soo, who is a Korean-American reporter for a U.S. news network, and is a key element of the movie’s plot.

Park Tae-Soo is a colorful character whose loyalties are divided between his desire for the corruption in the Republic of Korea to be brought to justice and his desire to protect his child. He is determined to protect Doo SAM’s wife and children however, he also wants to secure the safety of the street kids that he rescues every day. The film focuses on the relationship between Doo SAM and Kim Heo-Jung, who is the ultimate Gangsta. Although the two men want the same thing, their differing philosophies make it difficult for them to work together. The film is a blend of action and comedy as the two men defy several police attempts to arrest them.

Sang Doo Ri, a Korean film from the same movie franchise, is another worth your time. This movie portrays the life and times of a drug lord who seeks to establish order and establish an dynasty, while governing the nation. Doo-Ri is based upon the real-life story of Won Heo Koo. Park Hae-Chul also directed four films you should take a look at if you’re looking for some excellent Korean films that aren’t about the drug trade. Bong Byung-Gu is one of the most memorable films of the year. It’s about a young girl who falls for a street boy. Though the movie is about love, it examines the dark side of South Korean’s societal problems. The movie was hugely successful in Korea and later became a worldwide success. Park Hae-Chul, who died in 2011, was also involved in films such as the Legend of the Three Carriers starring Kim Tae-hun.

Of course, we must not forget another highly acclaimed Korean film that just was released in the month of April, The Drug King. The story revolves around Doo-Ran’s rise to power, the drug lord who reigns over the wealthy drug lords in the world. The movie star Kim Tae-hun is Doo-Ran as the main character and he does an excellent job of convincing the North Korean government that he is a trustworthy partner. Sung Dong Hye plays Doo-Ran’s loyal North Korean agent. Park’s friend Kwai Sui plays the role of Tong Soo the villain. The film creates a fascinating conflict between them.

All in all, The Drug King makes an excellent film that a lot of people love. Although the story is somewhat absurd at times but the acting is top notch. The musical sequence with dancing North Korean girls is catchy as ever and the film has some beautiful cinematography. The overall effect is awe-inspiring and leaves the audience under the spell of a thrilling and enjoyable film. Although The Drug King doesn’t quite attain the same heights as its predecessor, DooRan provides an enjoyable entertainment experience for the general public.
